Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer action horror game. The game allows a player to take on the role of a brutal killer while the other four players play as survivors. The goal of the killer is to kill as many survivors as possible. On the other hand, survivors must work together and survive.
Dead by Daylight Sadako Rising Edition is the 23rd chapter in Dead by Daylight. It was released on the 8th of March. It received great reception as Sadako Yamamura from “Ring” is one of the most iconic horror monsters in film history and is part of the game.
This chapter introduced a new Killer, The Onryō, and a new Survivor, Yoichi Asakawa. Now, the Japanese players can rest assured as they will get the Japanese Version release of Dead by Daylight Sadako Rising Edition on the 27th of October.
You can purchase a copy of the version for 4,200 yen, or roughly 31 dollars, excluding the tax. The amount is way higher than the original release, but that is expected for a different language version. This version offers the same original content, so there is nothing to worry about.
Moreover, as the characters are Japanese, this can also be great for those who want to play it more “canonically”. Especially when you consider the movie is Japanese, so there are a lot of horror elements from Japanese stereotypes. However, the characters have slight adjustments to match the format of the game. They have perks and other characteristics, which we will discuss below.
The Onryō
Sadako starts each trial undetected and invisible to the survivors far from her. When Sadako is near a survivor, her presence is revealed. She attacks by manifesting into a material form, which makes her visible for some period.
She can also take the material form by projecting herself through the televisions scattered on the map. As a result, Sadako can teleport to the TV’s location and increase the Condemned progress of any survivor nearby. When the Condemned meter is full, the survivor can be killed instantly.
Survivors can slow Sadako by retrieving videotapes from TVs. It turns off the TV, making her unable to teleport. However, they gain additional Condemned by doing so. A specific TV in each trial can lower the Condemned level of the survivors.
She has three perks:
Perk 1 – Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage
Begin each trial with up to four Scourge Hooks. When a Survivor hooked on a Scourge Hook is rescued, the aura of all other Survivors is temporarily revealed.
Perk 2 – Call of Brine
Upon kicking a generator, its aura is highlighted, and progress regresses faster for an extended duration. Any time a Survivor completes a Good Skill Check on an affected generator, you receive a loud noise notification.
Perk 3 – Merciless Storm
When a generator is nearly complete, Survivors repairing that generator will face continuous Skill Checks until the repair is complete. If they miss or stop repairing, the generator is temporarily blocked.
These perks are definitely scary and can be troublesome to deal with, especially when you are a survivor trying to escape from a teleporting ghost.
Yoichi Asakawa
Yoichi Asakawa has three perks that assist him in the trials.
Perk 1 -Parental Guidance
After stunning the Killer, your scratch marks, pools of blood, and grunts of pain are hidden for a brief duration.
Perk 2 – Empathic Connection
When another Survivor is injured, your aura is revealed to them from a distance. You can also heal your teammates faster.
Perk 3 – Boon: Dark Theory
Bless a Dull or Hex Totem to create a Boon Totem. All Survivors within range of the Boon Totem gain a boost in movement speed. The boost continues for a brief duration upon leaving the Boon’s aura.
Although the Survivors are disadvantaged, Dead by Daylight offers very balanced and fun gameplay. You can find your escape through strategic planning and know more about the characters in the process.
