As we venture into the rebirth of DCU, things have been nothing short of exciting. James Gunn has shown interest in expanding the gaming side, and even though many consider it a bad idea, it is better than getting nothing. In addition, there have been instances when we almost got some DC games with great potential, but they were unfortunately canceled.
Our team at TopTierList has found one such example, and it comes as concept art from a Justice League tie-in game that has surfaced on the web. The game was supposed to coincide with George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal, which was unfortunately canceled, and so the plans for this game were also scrapped.
Art Director Jonathan Gwyn has shared the many images on ArtStation, and given some details on how far into development the game was. Additionally, the images reveal some exciting characters, making us wonder what the game could have been like.
- Concept art from a canceled Justice League game has been revealed via the game’s Art Director.
- There are many images, and the Art Director himself has shed light on why this project never saw the light of day.
- Since the game was based on George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal, the video game project was dropped along with the movie.
If you are a DC Comics fan, you know how it has many untold stories that carry much potential. Though we would love to see some spotlight on other underrated characters, we can’t stop giving our love to some of the iconic ones. But what if we had a great mix of Justice League, some of their evil acquaintances, and a storyline on the level of a film?
Then we would perhaps get something similar to what we are covering today. Art Director Jonathan Gwyn has shared many images, revealing some of the many characters and locations we could have explored. Since there are many images, we will show only the notable ones and list the others you can find here.
Mongul is the lord of Warworld and an immensely strong supervillain in DC Comics. Only a handful of characters have been able to defeat him in raw strength.
Superman needs no introduction. He is our beloved Kryptonian superhero and a force to be reckoned with.
Professor Zoom is an evil speedster who has caused a lot of chaos and shown himself to be one of the deadliest supervillains in DC.
Some of the other characters include:
- Green Lantern
- Bizzaro Superman
- Bizzaro Clark Kent
- Batzarro
- Bane
- General Zod
- Solomon Grundy.
- Lady Shiva
- Wonder Woman
There are also some different skins or outfits for characters like Lady Shiva and Batman, which makes us believe we could have had more diversity in their costumes. Nevertheless, we can’t hope for much since the game will remain canceled.
According to the Art Director, “I was the Art Director and a main-level artist on this game which was built to coincide with the Justice League movie by George Miller.
The movie was eventually canceled along with the game, which is unfortunate since it was fairly far along in development.”
The movie in question is Justice League: Mortal, and due to the cancellation of the movie project, the game received the same treatment. Even though it was far into development, nothing could have been done.
Aside from the wide range of characters, we also have some exciting locations, some of which we will show below:
There are many other locations, some being additional areas to the ones we showed above. Moreover, there were images titled Zamaron, hinting at the potential involvement of Zamarons in the storyline. However, it is pointless to speculate what we could have seen in a canceled game.
The only thing that matters is that the game shows a lot of content and an array of characters. If the game was a tie-in to Justice League: Mortal, then we could have seen a fantastic storyline as well. It is unclear when the game was scrapped, but it was well into development, as mentioned above.
That is all for now! What are your thoughts on the canceled Justice League Game concept art? Do you think the assets should be used in a future Justice League game? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
