You might get tired of eating something too often or even playing a game for long hours, but that is never the case for Call of Duty. It is one of the most popular franchises and has been feeding us insane content for almost two decades.
For those of you that have been living under a rock, Call of Duty is an FPS video game franchise published by Activision and developed by multiple different studios, including Infinity Ward (2003–present), Treyarch (2005–present), Sledgehammer Games (2011–present), and Raven Software (2016–present).
One of their upcoming games is Call of Duty: Warzone II, which is set to release on the 16th of November. It will be a free-to-play battle-royale game for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.
It will be the direct sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone (2020). Although it is part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, it does not require the purchase of the title in the discussion. CoD Warzone II also features cross-play and an extraction mode called DMZ.
Alien/Extinction Mode
One of the beloved modes we have seen from CoD is the Extinction mode from Call of Duty: Ghosts. It features up to four players fighting ancient creatures known as Cryptids. They are alien creatures that have existed since before, even dinosaurs. Their outbreak has caused havoc, and the player must complete the objectives to destroy them.
Luckily, our sharp eyes at TopTierList found a Reddit Post that revealed some calling cards in Modern Warfare II featuring alien-like creatures. It directly points toward a potential Extinction like mode coming in MWII or a similar update.
Major Points
- The Reddit post shows a few calling cards featuring alien creatures fighting the soldiers.
- It can be a reference to Extinction mode, but it’s more likely an easter egg to an upcoming update.
- Although there is no confirmation, the implications are substantial.
Alien Calling Cards
If you don’t know about calling cards, they are simple customizations or playercards that appear in every CoD game since CoD: MWII. They are stylized backgrounds that appear either with or without text on the players’ nameplates. Since the game launched, players have dug up some interesting information. Among these, we have calling cards with Aliens fighting the soldiers.
Possible Alien Mode/Extinction in Modern Warfare II from GamingLeaksAndRumours
There is a way to glitch into seeing the available emblems and calling cards within the game. Reddit User uglyuglyugly found it possible to do that in Modern Warfare II, allowing him to extract these calling cards for us.
He admits that although they are an exciting detail, they can simply just be themed titles, but since there are many of them, who knows what’s cooking behind the scenes?
The game already saw immense success upon its launch, and if future updates have content similar to what we think, then there is no doubt that the game will do great even in the coming years.
In Conclusion
Some players have dug up hidden calling cards, which clearly imply Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Extinction mode. While we can be optimistic and think the developers have something great planned, it is still best to keep our expectations in check.
