Square Enix has never disappointed the community as it brings out quality games and even keeps attention on older popular titles. It even has an unparalleled portfolio of video game series like Final Fantasy, NieR:Automata, and Kingdom Hearts.
Unfortunately, it seems like 2023 will not be a year where we see Square Enix and Xbox going together. It’s not because the company has no plans of releasing a game, but because those will not be released on Xbox in the 2023 window.

- There are even multiple Final Fantasy games in 2023, but so far, they have only been announced for PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC.
Square Enix had a very successful release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion, and the reception on Xbox has been nothing but great. Even then, 2023 is less than two weeks in sight, but Square Enix has made no announcements for an Xbox release.
It doesn’t mean they will completely skip it over, as there is a chance they will announce something later on, but the chances of that happening look pretty grim. So far, among their titles, Forspoken is a PS5 exclusive title, while Octopath Traveler 2 will be skipping Xbox, even though the original game is available on Xbox Game Pass.
Forspoken – PS5 Exclusive.One of the only games currently in their arsenal, which we are hoping receives an Xbox release, is Final Fantasy VII Remake. But the game’s exclusivity window has expired, so they have absolutely no reason to do that.
Still, even if they do announce something in the same year, it is highly unlikely that it will be something big because marketing itself takes a while, and knowing Square Enix, any announcement of something grandiose should have already been made.
Now, unless they have something planned for Christmas, we can’t recommend that anyone be optimistic in this situation. But that’s just our suggestion!
