Epic Games Store has been a great companion for many gamers, and though its competitor, Steam, still dominates the majority of the market, Epic has done well for us. Their most recent act, the 15 days of free games, including some of the more popular titles, has been a great joy for gamers in the last bit of 2022.
Another thing about Epic Games Store is how they have been giving away free weekly games for quite a while now. As the year is about to end, many are concerned about whether they will follow this model for the coming year. Luckily, the notable leaker Billbil-kun has given us the great news that Epic Games Store will continue their weekly game giveaways in the next year.
It is not a big surprise since Epic never discussed how this would be temporary and has continued this program. However, considering how big companies are changing the way some of their services work, like PS Plus having day one games in 2023, it is still a sigh of relief.

Major Points
- Epic Games Store will continue to do weekly game giveaways in the next year.
- The store already shows two titles that will be free from 5th-12th January.
- Though this was expected, it is still good to know Epic will continue this program.
Epic Games Store has won the hearts of many gamers with the recent free games. If you have been using the platform for a while, you may know this isn’t the first time, as their long-running weekly free game model has provided us with similar games every week. Though this has continued for a while, some had concerns about whether it will still be the case in 2023.
Luckily, Billbil-kun tweeted recently that we will benefit from this model even in 2023. And the fact that two titles, Shadow Tactics – Aiko’s Choice and Kerbal Space Program, are currently showing “coming soon” as they will be free from 5th-12th January is enough to make us believe that.
If you thought the fun would end after the 15 days of free games during Christmas, this might be Santa’s gift for you. The weekly giveaways have helped many gamers expand their portfolio, as there are occasions when even some popular expensive games are free for the week. This allows us to experience new and popular games, all while supporting the developers.
Since Epic pays the developers, the games are available for free for us, and Epic continues to expand its consumer base. It is partly why many had concerns, as when the time comes that Epic deems this not worth the investment, they can stop the free games whenever they want. But considering how well they are doing now, we can expect this to last a long time.
That is all for now. What games do you want to see being free in 2023? And do you think Epic Games Store will have weekly free games as a permanent model for their platform? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
