Forspoken has lackluster reviews and has been under the scrutiny of the gaming community, but the new IP from Square Enix has taken the second spot in the Japanese region. The PlayStation 5 sales chart from the past month shows how it was only second to Monster Hunter Rise.

This news must surprise the gaming community after the bad reviews, bad word of mouth, and the overall general perception of the game. You can not see it in the top 5 best-selling games of the last month for the PlayStation 5 in the US/Canada region, but it sits in the top 2 in the Japanese market. This doesn’t mean it did badly there. The dynamics of both regions are different, and the sales of Forspoken are better than expected in that region.
