Embracer Group has dominion over many notable video game developers. As such, it is not surprising to see them working on hundreds of games simultaneously. Even though they have slowed down a bit due to Saints Row‘s failure, our team at TopTierList has found a tweet revealing that the giant company is currently working on 224 game projects. Among these, we can expect many AAAs and some other exciting titles.
This number was previously reported to be 237. Naturally, due to releases throughout the quarter, it is not surprising to see them decrease. Still, cancelations played a role. But we shouldn’t focus on the cancelations just yet. For now, according to their reports, let us look at how they are doing and what they offer us.
There can be as many as five The Lord of the Rings games and 31 AAA games that might release in the coming years. Do note that it will take them a while to be announced, let alone be released. So, keep your expectations in control.
The number of active game development projects within Embracer Group $EMBRAC decreased from 237 to 224 between 30th September and 31st December.
It's likely that there have been some cancellations, which may have contributed to the high amortisation in the PC/Console segment. pic.twitter.com/rCp9cPRWC3

Major Points
- Embracer Group is working on 224 video game projects.
- They have also said that five new games based on The Lord of the Rings are in the works and should be released by 31st March 2024.
- In addition, there are 31 AAA titles in their plans, scheduled for release up to FY 2027/28.
It is always fun to see big companies working on different projects. Embracer Group is among the biggest, and its many subsidiaries constantly work on different titles of nice quality. Albeit, there will always be titles like Saints Row Reboot that don’t live up to the expectations.
Regardless, their recent financial reports reveal that 224 video game projects are currently in development. They are scheduled for release up to FY 2027/28.
Here is the number of AAA games Embracer Group $EMBRAC plans to launch in each year up to FY 2027/28.
Until 1st April 2024, you can expect Dead Island 2, Space Marine 2, Payday 3, and one unannounced game (spoiler: it's by the Kingdom Come: Deliverance devs). pic.twitter.com/4Zi9azKwN3

Twitter user EmbracerInvestor has taken this information directly from the reports, so they are as credible as can be. 9 of these games are in pre-production, while 5 are still in the early concept phase. However, 17 of these AAA games are in full production, which is great news. The expected releases per fiscal year are as follows:
- 4 AAA games are expected to release in FY23/24.
- 8 AAA games are expected to release in FY24/25.
- 7 AAA games are expected to release in FY25/26.
- 8 AAA games are expected to release in FY26/27.
- 4 AAA games are expected to release in FY27/28.
In addition, 24 of them will be published internally, while 7 are external. 28 of the AAA games are being developed internally, while 3 are external. Embracer owns the IP for 23 of these games, while 8 of them are licensed or external. As expected, only 5 have been announced, while the rest 26 are still unannounced.
As seen from the tweet above, 11 of these games are operated under Saber, 8 under Gearbox Entertainment, 6 under Plaion, 5 under Crystal Dynamics|Eidos-Montréal, and only 1 under THQ Nordic.
Though this is official information, most of these games are unannounced, as told earlier. Therefore, any information on their expected release, developers, and whatnot are subjected to change until properly announced.

If that wasn’t enough, they are also working on 5 The Lord of the Rings games, and they should be released by 31st March 2024. These will likely be available for the majority of the platforms. Additionally, we believe they will likely be developed externally and published as such. It is similar to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game by Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon.
Since Middle-earth Enterprises, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, owns the IP, they will profit through the royalties and licensing. Since the Gollum game is scheduled for release sometime this year, it is one of the 5 games mentioned in the tweet.
That is all we can extract from the report as of now. Our team will be on the lookout for anything else exciting on this matter! In the meantime, what are your thoughts on Embracer’s future games? Do you think any of the TLOTR games are among the 31 AAA titles? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
