The Last of Us came out a decade ago, but it is still considered one of the best action-adventure games with a great fan base globally; the series is considered among the pinnacle of quality for not only PlayStation but gaming as a whole. Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
The game’s development began in 2009, and the highly anticipated game came out in June 2013 on PlayStation 3. It became one of the best-selling games selling over 1.3 million units in its first week. The game won year-end accolades and multiple Game of the year awards.
The game is played from a third-person perspective and revolves around the post-apocalyptic United States. Players control Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl Ellie. Players can use firearms and stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated fungus in the genus Cordyceps. It was highly praised for its narrative gameplay, sound, design, and characterization.
There has been news that Naughty Dog has been working on The Last of us remake for the last couple of years, and reliable industry insider Tom Henderson claimed on January 2022, The Last of Us remake could be released for PlayStation 5 in the second half of 2022.
During Sony’s CES 2022 conference in January, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said the studio was “dying to share” with fans “the multiple game projects” they are working on.

And is that time of the year when we get official announcements on the games that are in development? You guessed it right #SummerGameFest and another industry insider Robert Serrano, a Business Analyst, Web/Tech/Project Specialist, and former PR & Chief Editor at 4news.
He has abundant sources and has constantly updated the community on big gaming companies’ every move. And mentioned some titles recently. He shared that we will likely get a teaser trailer for our precious The Last of Us Remake on June 9th at Summer Game Fest.
As I told to some friends via DM, the Naughty Dog title is expected to be unveiled this September at the PlayStation Showcase. I mean, a teaser trailer (just a logo and/or few sequences) is plausible, if it's real.

Studios tend to be very careful when remaking games because it can go either way. Some claim that The Last of Us is perfect and need to remake, but it has been a decade. With the technological advancement in the gaming industry, it could benefit from it, and it will be fascinating to see a game that is almost perfect returning with a remake. Only time will tell whether a remake is good or not. As of now, all we can do is wait for an official announcement.
