Elden Ring Bosses Tier List: Top 30 RANKED

If you are into RPG games, you will be no stranger to Elden Ring. Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, it was the most anticipated Game of 2022. With its expansive storyline, vast open world, numerous challenges, and much more, it ensures you don’t get up from your gaming chair any time soon. And in our Elden Ring Bosses Tier List, we will exclusively focus on some of the different bosses the players will encounter on their adventure and rank them.

Each boss was ranked according to not only how challenging they are, but also how memorable the fights themselves are.

Key Points

  • We will only rank the top 30 bosses.
  • These 30 bosses are the most prominent and difficult in the Game.
  • Among the highest tiers, we have Malenia and Radagon.
  • The lowest ranks contain the likes of the Tree sentinel.

Introduction

Depending on how strong and difficult they are, the bosses in our article will be classified into 5 Tiers (S, A, B, C, and D). These rankings have been done after personally trying out the games ourselves. We analyzed all the battles from every perspective and concluded where to place each entry

S Tier

S Tier
S Tier.

S Tier will hold the place of the most substantial and toughest bosses in the Game. These bosses can give you a very hard time, and bringing them down is a real challenge. They require the players to have higher levels and upgraded gears while testing their patience and skills.

Malenia, Blade of Miquella

Arguably the strongest boss battle in the Game, Malenia can be a headache for many players. It is one battle that tests your patience to an extreme level. Belonging to the empyrean being, she ensures your inventory is up to the highest mark. The only good thing about this encounter is that it’s a completely optional battle that can be skipped. The players doesn’t need to fight her to make progress in the game. But those of you who want to take a real challenge and test your skills can encounter her in the secret Legacy Dungeon storyline.

What makes Malenia a very annoying boss is her constant healing ability. No matter how much damage you deal, she can regenerate her health which gets very irritating. If players are patient enough, they can take her down with heavy attacks and different combos before she tries to heal herself again. Other than her frequent healings, she has a sword for a weapon with tremendous reach.

In our opinion, Malenia is the strongest boss in Elden Ring.

Radagon of the Golden Order

Coming up next in our S Tier is Radagon of the Golden order, a very versatile boss. His attack, defense, speed, and range speak for themselves. Like many bosses in the Game, Radagon can switch target mid-air with delayed strikes. Unlike them, his attacks are very powerful and if he lands a perfect attack, you better ensure you have some healing items in your inventory.

Talking about his attacking moves, the ability to grab your player is his most lethal attack. Escaping it can be very difficult which deals a lot of damage. You must keep spamming the roll button to avoid that attack and wait for the perfect timing to launch a counter. Once you are familiar with the pattern of attacks, it can get a little easy hitting back at Radagon. But that is just the half of it, as it’s his second phase of attacks where he can get very unpredictable.

Godskin duo

Our third entry in the tier is the Godskin duo of Noble and Apostle. As if dealing with one doesn’t sound scary enough, the game throws both of you into the arena simultaneously. Killing only one of them is insufficient. They will continue to reappear following death until their collective health bar is empty.

The players can take cover in the surroundings, such as the pillars, but once the duo of beasts gets into rage mode, they can destroy them, which prevents you from hiding behind anything, and you are forced to rely on rolling and luck to evade their attacks.

Godfrey first Elden lord / Hoarah Loux

Godfrey is the first major boss in Lyndall, who is the final hurdle on your way to the final dungeon boss. Also known as Hoarah Loux, the boss is a proper unit. His main weapon is his axe which he can use in different manners to bring you down. The players will lose plenty of health if it strikes by either throwing, plunging, or repeated heavy attacks. He can cause a huge crack in the ground by forcing his axe into it, which is then blown up by the eruption of stones. Avoiding that can be nearly impossible, but with some luck and quick reactions, you can counter before he tries to strike again.

Phase 2 is where Godfrey completely loses it. Dismantling his lion Serosh and adopting the Hoarah Loux persona to indulge his inner bloodlust. He even releases the grip on his axe rather than coming at us head-on with just his bare hands and feet. To get further, you’ll need to use perfectly timed grapples, stomps, earth-shattering fissures, and kicks that are all quite powerful. This is where we felt he deserves the spot in the S rank of our Elden Ring remembrance bosses tier list.

A Tier

A Tier
A Tier.

The A Tier of our Elden Ring Bosses Tier List will include extremely strong and hard-to-beat bosses in the game. Some might argue they deserve a place in the previous Tier, but after noticing some defects in the battle style, we believe they lacked a little spark to be included in the S Tier.

Maliketh, the Black Blade

Starting off the A Tier, we have Maliketh, the holder of the Rune of Death. Maliketh is quite weak in comparison to other Elden Ring bosses. Don’t get us wrong tho, as he more than makes up for that, though, with his incredible damage and complex move set.

You begin the boss battle by taking on the Beast Clergyman, who is the same as the one at the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. His main strategies are swift dagger swipes and a few spells, including the Beast Claw. These magic spells are difficult to handle because they have a wide field of effect and great precision.

General Radahn

We suggest the players be at least level 70 before taking on General Radahn. If you don’t feel like grinding up to that level, you can skip this boss battle, as it’s optional. Regarding our recommendation, we won’t suggest skipping it but rather taking on him as the reward is special after bringing down the beast.

General Radahn can be found deep in the east of Caelid, and he is the only Elden Ring boss that enables multiple NPC summoning, making him a very difficult enemy. Your allies won’t survive too long because of his powerful attacks and AoE gravity moves. In phase 2, he will rapidly combine his strikes with brand-new gravity-based spells.

Morgott, the Omen King

It’s one of those boss battles where you must be very patient and skilled to advance in the game. The fact that Morgott doesn’t pause during the fight makes the boss encounter particularly challenging. Until your stamina runs out, he will maintain his combos. It can all get very tiring and frustrating, leaving you feeling like quitting the game.

Each of his summoned weapons is now an improved version and is deadlier than ever. You’re never sure of his next move because of the new sword and hammer combos with his Cursed Sword. He may pressure you from the opposite side of the arena thanks to his summoned spear throws and thrusts.

Mohg, Lord of Blood

Mohg is another optional boss battle, but skipping it can make you feel like you’re missing out on something big. The battle itself can be equivalent to a headache, but if you can memorize his patterns and style, it can be very interesting combat.

He throws blood flame at you, which can be very tricky to evade. He will also combine his heavy-hitting blows with slow-moving spear assaults. As you play through the fight, Mohg will begin chanting “Nihil!” three times, extinguishing each of the three circles surrounding you, which will damage you and simultaneously heal the Lord of Blood.

Margit, the fell Omen

Margit is one of those boss battles that truly gives you the taste of the Eldin Ring. The players must be prepared for this one, as it can be difficult to come out as a winner.

His double-hit dagger attacks can be an absolute pain when you get close to him, which makes him annoying to deal with if you are not a magic user. His Phase 2 is significantly more challenging because he summons more weapons, acts more aggressively, and has irregular timing for his combos.

Dragonlord Placidusax

The first Dragon battle in our List, Dragonlord Placidusax, is just stuff made up of nightmares. It’s considered the hardest Dragon boss in the game, and rightly so. The first phase of the two-headed dragon is rather mild, consisting mostly of slow lightning claws, focused lightning blows from above, fire breath, and melee attacks with its tail.

The moment the dragon vanishes into thin air, that’s when phase 2 begins; the difficulty increases drastically. As you wait in confusion, it will swoop in with a massive claw assault. Not only that. The dragon will now continuously enter and exit while attacking with its claws. Its attacks intensify over time, hitting you with a laser blast that transforms into dragon breath is one of the game’s highest damage outputs. Despite its size, Dragonlord Placidusax is very agile and quick, proving problematic.

Elden beast

Despite serving as the game’s final boss, Elden Best surprisingly makes his way into the A Tier. The boss casts a range of spells using holy magic to end your journey. Elden Beast also has a propensity to swim across the arena whenever you approach, making you jump about in fear.

However, the less worrying part is that all of Elden Beast’s attacks, except the magic spell Elden Stars, are simple enough to avoid. The long-range sword slashes, influenced by Sekiro’s Divine Dragon, are easy to roll past. But there’s no denying that the Elden Ring final boss requires patience.

Lichdragon Fortissax

We have our second Dragon boss on the list, Lichdragon Fortissax. The battle is straightforward, but you can’t go easy on any Elden Ring bosses. The beast uses lightning and death blight as its primary weapons throughout Fia’s quest in Elden Ring. Simply put, there is a lot to manage in the boss battle.

It possesses a spell identical to Dragonlord Placidusax and Draconic Tree Sentinel, in which a lightning bolt hovers on you before striking after a short period. Further, two enormous lightning bolts are slammed into the ground and spread like waves. One way of dealing with it is the correct positioning, waiting for the perfect timing and opening to hit it back.

B Tier

Elden Ring Bosses Tier List
B Tier.

The B rank of the Elden Ring remembrance bosses tier list will contain bosses considered strong but not as challenging as those in the previous Tiers. Dealing with them is still pretty hard, but compatibly, they are not that tough.

Commander Niall

We will begin our B Tier with Commander Niall, one of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring, even though he is not a primary boss. Another of those boss battles can be skipped if you wish to. Before the real battle begins, he sends two knights in your way. Both knights can instantly close the gap and cause frostbite with each strike. The boss arena is also not particularly large, creating a very tricky situation. After dealing with those knights, the real challenge begins with Commander Niall himself.

He thrives on magic spells and Frostbite-inducing tornadoes. That can be a little hard to avoid, but it can be accomplished with perfect timing and combination. Catching him off guard while he summons his tornadoes is another method of dealing with him. Overall an easy battle if you can memorize his movement and attack patterns, but you will struggle if you are not at the required level for the battle.

Full-grown Fallingstar Beast

It can be found in a crater in Mt. Gelmir, and as the name hints, the boss is a beast with relentless aggression. Due to that, dealing damage can be extremely difficult, but with upgraded and high-level weapons, you can find this combat comfortable.

But once you find its weak spots, the armor can be broken down quite easily, which leaves him vulnerable to regular attacks. However, its mobility and quick speed can be a little challenging.

Godrick The Grafted

Godrick the Grafted is an early boss encounter in the game, but by any means, that doesn’t make it an easy battle. After defeating Margit, the Fell Omen, Godrick The Grafted awaits for you to challenge him. He is another perfect example of spamming the role button won’t get you anywhere. He can follow up his super-delayed assaults with a quicker one. On the other hand, his enormous ground stomps require you to time your jumps, and his wind strikes call for precision rolling.

When you damage him a bit, Godrick rips off his arm and replaces it with a dragonhead in one of the most horrific Elden Ring boss moments. As scary as that sounds, it’s fairly easy to deal with that fire attacks if you know when to dodge and when to run away.

Astel, Naturalborn of the Void

A branch of Ranni’s questline, the Astel boss fight is based on gravity and celestial. Astel is a large beast with little speed and a heavy reliance on gravity magic. Astel may teleport anywhere in the magnificent and enormous arena. He always begins with a slow-charging laser assault that comes in as fast bursts later.

In addition, he has other abilities, such as employing gravity magic to launch meteors, swiping his arm with magic that bursts a second later, creating a three-pulse ground, and more. Astel’s most lethal attack is when he teleports directly behind you and grabs you. If your attacks lack power, you’re probably already dead and might consider leveling up, as Astel’s game of teleport and ambush makes it a very challenging battle.

Rennala of the full Moon

Another optional boss encounter is Rennala, a legendary boss in the game. She can be found in Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia of the Lakes. Phase 1 of this two-phase boss battle involves obtaining the children with the gold aura, damaging Rennala, and repeating. As for phase 2, it is a very different proposition. Rennala will utilize summoning and unleashing the full force of her magic. Dragons, giants, wolves, and even a bloodhound knight are among the creatures she calls.

Black Blade Kindred

There is a good chance you will encounter Black Blade Kindred if you’ve made it to Dragonbarrow. The enormous gargoyle has tremendously powerful attacks, is also quite tanky, and can be difficult to kill down.

You can come face-to-face with the particular boss very early in the game, but you will struggle against his insanely fast attacks and black flames if you are not well prepared.

Red Wolf of Radagon

The Red Wolf’s biggest strength is its blistering speed, which can be pretty tricky to deal with. In addition, it has an impressive range of attacks with unexpected timings, which can’t be picked up easily. Your best bet is to match speed for speed, deal more powerful physical blows in whatever way you can, and use a shield to deflect some of its blows, especially its heavy magic damage.

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella

The Dragonkin soldier of Nokstella is an extremely intimidating boss. Players can summon the Spirit Jellyfish Ash for the boss battle to divert its attention and using the Night Maiden’s Mist Spell you can avoid attacks and deal relatively slow but constant damage to it.

Although there isn’t a specific level that is advised, it appears that if you are at least Level 30-35 or higher, you will have no trouble knocking it down.

The Bosses in C rank are slightly weak than the previous tiers, who take slightly more effort and time to be killed. They might seem weaker compared to them, but FromSoft doesn’t create easy bosses, do they?

Crucible Knight Duo

Another boss duo to make this list it’s the Crucible Knight Duo. The pair has an impressive range, speed, and magic and deals great damage after landing a successful strike. Although the concept of 2 fighting 2 bosses simultaneously sounds difficult, the battle can be very straightforward if you are up to the required level and are equipped with upgraded weapons.

Fire Giant

What can sound more horrific than the two words Fire and Giant in the same name? But don’t worry, it has a weakness like every other boss and can be killed easily if you are quick and patient.

The Fire Giant is legitimately a really hard boss, despite being generally slow to hit His left foot is weak, which could cause bleeding and cause him to stumble. Second, rushing him down is smart because it avoids most of his blows and gives you enough time to blow a few strikes. In Phase 2, he has significantly more armor, and his fire spells are more potent. But once more, you can knock him to the ground by casting spells from a distance.

Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

The Lord of Blasphemy is located at the Volcano Manor, and there are quite a few steps you have to take to reach him first.

The best way to fight off Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, is by utilizing the Serpent-Hunter Great Spear, which can be obtained at the boss’ chamber’s entrance. Rykard is momentarily stunned by the Great-Serpent Hunt weapon’s talent, making him vulnerable to a combination of weapon skills or a charged heavy strike.

Draconic Tree Sentinel

The Draconic Tree Sentinel is fairly balanced in combat and magic, not favoring one over the other. This is difficult since you can’t rely on Torrent to keep you safe because Draconic’s razor-sharp fireballs will undoubtedly grab you. Additionally, during his second phase, he casts various lightning spells that require you to constantly adjust your position.

Elemer of the Briar

Elemer, classified as a swordsman, is our final boss in the C Tier. Arguably the strongest swordsman boss in the game, he can be a formidable hurdle with his combination of melee and shield attacks, which is deadly from close range. So, an up-close battle with the boss is a nightmare. Furthermore, you are forced to battle him in a closed dining room where your movement is limited. When he starts dashing at you, that is when you wish you had just turned your back and run away.

Elden Ring Bosses Tier List
D Tier.

We have arrived at the business end of our Elden Ring Bosses Tier List, which is the D rank. It will be home to the weakest bosses from the list of 30.

Tree Sentinel

The Tree Sentinel, one of the most recognizable Elden Ring monsters, is a large, imposing figure who is extremely difficult to defeat in the early game, especially without Torrent. The Tree Sentinel is mobile, has a large health bar, and has devastatingly powerful attacks. This boss battle gets easy once you access the torrent (your mount), making for an interesting duel. You may also want to explore and locate some fantastic magic spells before going up against the Tree Sentinel face-to-face.

Another early boss battle, Leonine, is located near the southern edge of the map, just south of Castle Morne on the coast. It’s an optional battle, but we urge players to attempt it because of how easy it is. You will be rewarded with 3,800 Runes which can be very handy early in the game.

Sir Gideon Ofnir, The All Knowing

Sir Gideon Ofnir, the all knowing, simply known as Gideon, is found in Leyndell, the Capital of Ash. The location is unlocked after ending the Crumbling Farum Azula quest. He is located in the Erdtree Sanctuary building. Gideon is vulnerable to melee attacks and Spirit Ashes. Besides his weakness, his pattern of attacks is very predictable, and you can read them easily. His main source of the attack is launching projectiles that can be avoided very easily, so in short, it’s a very straightforward boss battle.

Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree

Loretta is found at Miquella’s Haligtree. Although she doesn’t have as many powerful melee attacks, her magic bullets and pursuing projectiles make up for that. Loretta is weak to lighting damage, so make sure you have many weapons of that type to bring her down without breaking a sweat.

Verdict

So, that was our attempt at ranking some of the strongest Bosses in the game with the Elden Ring Bosses Tier List. Your experience with some of the bosses, if not, will be dissimilar, thus giving rise to different views and opinions.

We tried to be as accurate as possible and hope to have done a good job. After all, constructing a perfect List is nearly impossible, but we would love to hear your thoughts about them in the comments.
