If you are familiar with the Warhammer 40k miniature wargame, then you’ll be no stranger to the game we have brought for you. Warhammer 40k Darktide is a first-person action game set in the Warhammer universe. And so our Warhammer 40k Darktide tier list 2022 article will analyze and rank all the available classes to help you better understand each.
Darktide was released on November 30th for Microsoft Windows, and an announcement date for the release on Xbox Series X/S will be revealed soon. If you are a PlayStation user, you are out of luck as the game is only Microsoft exclusive.
The game has 4 distinct classes, which we will discuss further in the article. Each class has unique combat styles, abilities, and powers, making them distinct. Before diving into the details, we would like to clarify that the following ranking has been solely based on personal preferences. We concluded each of them after playing the game, and the outcome is based on those findings. Since everyone has a distinct set of thoughts, we don’t want our readers to agree with everything in this article. Having said that, let’s go on to the rankings.
We have created the article with the current meta in mind.
There are 4 classes (Psyker, Ogryn, Veteran, and Zealot).
They will be ranked in 4 different ranks (S, A, B, and C).
A brief explanation is given for each entry.
The table below provides a quick overview and summary of the whole article.

Psyker is classified into the S Tier, the strongest class on our list.
The first inclusion, Psyker, is a magic-wielding class with psychokinetic powers. These powers allow them to easily smash their enemies by doing great damage over a wide area. They have the best sets of weapons of all the classes which are pretty challenging to get the hang of, but with some practice, you can master it. The same is true with Psyker’s skills, which are quite strong and take some time to master. Some of the best-known abilities are Brain Burst and Quell, which are not only their best abilities but also some of the strongest in the game. Due to the continual risk of Peril and their inherent squishiness, the Psykinetic is one of the tougher classes to play, but once you get used to it, you’ll feel the powers this class holds.
Effective against elites
Blowing up heads and getting buffs
Catachan Mk I "Devil's Claw" Sword: flurry, crowd control
Accatran MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol: mobile, high capacity
Brain Burst: Target an enemy and unleash this ability to watch their head go "pop!"
Warp Siphon: Killing with Brain Burst generates a stackable Warp Charge, up to four, each increasing your damage by 3%.
Battle Meditation: On a kill, there's a 10% chance to reduce your Peril by 10%.
Psykinetic's Wrath: Warp Charges can be discharged, creating a wave of Warp energy that knocks enemies back and reduces your Peril level.
A Tier will hold the place of the Zealot class.
Zealot Preachers have a decent kit, deal a good amount of damage, and are tough to kill. Using a stun grenade, you can easily wipe off enemies. Zealots excel at melee strikes, and when paired with their fast speed, they can be really hard to handle for foes. Similarly, when equipped with an axe, they can land critical strikes, which are pretty hard to evade. The class is known for its aggression, which intensifies when health is lost. When the health is too low, they will unleash special attacks with wrath, which can cause damage to large groups of enemies.
Hardy, hard to kill
High-damage melee attacks
Good against Armor
Rashad Mk II Combat Axe
Ius Mk III Shredder Autopistol
Martyrdom - every 15 points of health lost increases damage by five points, which can be compounded up to three times.
Until Death - Taking fatal injury gives invulnerability for five seconds; this effect can only be used once per 90 seconds.
Swift Exorcism - Increases attack speed by 10%.
Chastise the Wicked - Charge towards the enemy, recovering toughness and increasing melee attack damage by 25%.
Veteran Sharpshooter will be classified in the B rank of our Warhammer 40K Darktide Tier List.
The third class on the list is Veteran Sharpshooter, who enjoys long-range combat; unlike the other classes, they have heavy firearms with powerful firepower that deal massive damage. However, if they are forced to engage in close-range combat, they have more than adequate skills to help them hold their position. They may attack the enemies with melee weapons such as a shovel, resulting in great damage. Their frag grenade allows them to reach behind walls and eliminate the attackers who are not in their line of sight. As a result, the Veteran – Sharpshooter is designed to eliminate foes with precision and accuracy while also taking their time to properly line up bullets.
Good against Elites and Specials
Standard-issue Munitorum Sapper Shovel
Kantrael MG Ia Infantry Lasgun
Make Every Shot Count – increase damage to weak spots by 15%
Be Prepared – all ranged weapons have 40% more ammo reserve
Volley Fire - Equip ranged weapons instantly and take ranged stance for five seconds, enhancing weak spot damage, accuracy, and handling versus Specialists and Elites (except for Ogryns)
The final class of the game, Ogryn will be placed in the C Tier.
Ogryn is the bulkiest class having the strongest defense out of all of them. They are built like a tank that uses melee weapons as their source of primary attacks. As they are built to withstand heavy damage, bringing them down is challenging for the opponents. With a long health bar adding to their fantastic defensive abilities, Ogryn can be a real challenge and headache to combat against. In addition to that, they act as great aiding teammates who carry shields to parry out any coming attacks. So if you are looking for a good balance of attack and defense, this class will best suit your game style.
Effective against hordes
Effective at staggering and suppressing enemies
“Brunt Special” Mk I Bully Club
Lorenz Mk V Kickback
Big Box of Hurt (high damage)
Excessive Force – 25% buff to melee stagger
Loyal Protector – Taking damage does not interrupt assisting or reviving allies
Thick Skin – Reduce toughness and health damage by 25%
Bull Rush – Charge at enemies to knock them back, increase attack and movement speed by 25% for five seconds

We don’t claim that our placements are perfect, as ranking lists are one of those subjects where there’s no such thing as a perfect presentation. That’s due to different thoughts, opinions, and experiences with a given topic.
However, we aim to be as precise as possible in our research and presentation to provide our readers with reliable information about their favorite video games. So if there’s anything you wish to say, we will be happy to hear them down in the comments.
