Bambi
The Disney movie tier list would be incomplete without mentioning Bambi in it. Talking about Bambi, it is brilliant. Every frame could just be its painting. It is just “oh it’s incredible” and the music, it’s just so heavily Beethoven inspired, it’s superb. However, as far as the storytelling is concerned, it loses some points for that, but because this movie is still appreciable, thus it is going to the A-tier.

C Tier
The C tier includes movies that are just average. Strictly speaking, these movies are fair. They are neither great nor worst, just good. To find out which movies have been included under this category, continue reading.
The Three Caballeros
The Three Caballeros cannot be skipped from the Disney movie tier list. The Three Cabelleros is another movie, quite similar to the Saludos Amigos. It is a much better movie.
Especially the first half which is so much fun. However, the last third is quite boring and the ending is pretty bad. And all this makes it an average kind of movie. So it will go into the C-tier.
Release Date | December 21, 1944 |
Director | Clyde Geronimi, Norm Ferguson, Jack Kinney, Bill Roberts, Harold Young |
Fun and Fancy-Free
Fun and Fancy-Free is a little bit different sort of a movie compared to the rest in the fact that it’s only got two shots and it is Mickey in the Beanstalk and Bungo. Both were cute and fun to watch. It has a more solid story and good music, however still pretty basic. So, this will go to the C-tier.
Release Date | September 27, 1947 |
Director | Jack Kinney, Hamilton Luske, Bill Roberts, William Morgan |
PeterPan
PeterPan is just an average movie. Nothing too much interesting about it. The plot is just fine and so are all the characters. It’s neither too good nor too bad. Just an average movie, going to the C-tier. It is just like watching a kid having playtime.
Release Date | February 5, 1953 |
Director | Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson |
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr.Toad

Director | Clyde Geronimi, Jack Kinney, James Algar |
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty is a decent movie but quite average. It’s not one of those incredible movies that we have mentioned in the S, A, and B tiers. Because this movie is not too good, it will go in the C-tier.
Release Date | January 29, 1959 |
Director | Wolfgang Reitherman, Clyde Geronimi, Eric Larson, Les Clark |

Meet the Robinsons is an average Disney movie. Not too good, not too bad. Just a fair film with an average story and plot.
Release Date | March 30, 2007 |
Director | Stephen Anderson |
The Aristocats
The Aristocats is a cute Disney movie. It is a fun movie but doesn’t do a whole lot for us. The storyline is good and so is the plot but then again, not something extraordinary. Therefore, it is going in the C-tier.
Release Date | December 24, 1970 |
Director | Wolfgang Reitherman |
Pocahontas
Pocahontas is not one of those epic and wonderful Disney movies that you should watch for sure no matter what. Because this movie is just average, it is going in the C-tier.
Release Date | June 23, 1995 |
Director | Eric Goldberg, Mike Gabriel |
The Great Mouse Detective
The Great Mouse Detective is an average Disney Movie. It is not an interesting movie but some scenes are pretty cool. You will enjoy it for sure but because it is not up to the mark, it has been in the C-tier.
Release Date | July 2, 1986 |
Director | Ron Clements, John Musker, Burny Mattinson, David Michener |
D Tier
The D tier includes those movies that are complete trash. These movies were not up to the mark and were great disappointments. The movies on this list are:
Saludos Amigos
Saludos Amigos is an interesting movie because basically, this movie was actually like Government Sanctioned. The Govt asked Walt Disney to make them like create good ties between North America and South America for WW2. That might sound awesome in theory but the movie tries to be a documentary and a cartoon put together.
But the documentary stuff doesn’t go far enough. It just says “hey, here is every way how Americans and South Americans are similar”. All in all, the cartoons related to it are just about that so it’s not a great movie and therefore it is on the D-tier.
Release Date | August 24, 1942 |
Director | Norm Ferguson, Jack Kinney, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, Bill Roberts |
Make Mine Music
Make Mine Music is a fun movie that you will enjoy. The scene where the whale who wanted to sing at the Met is too good. However, the rest of the movie is not up to the mark, the plot and the storytelling, both are pretty bad and basic. Because of that, it goes into the D-tier.
Release Date | April 20, 1946 |
Director | Jack Kinney, Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, Robert Cormack, Joshua Meador |
Melody Time
Melody Time is one of those Disney movies that require plenty of changes. Everything is just so basic about the movie from the characters to the plot to the music and everything in between. It is going to the D-tier.
Release Date | May 27, 1948 |
Director | Wilfred Jackson, Clyde Geronimi, Jack Kinney, Hamilton Luske |
The Rescuers
The Rescuers is another below-average Disney Movie. It is not good enough to compete with other Disney Classics. So it is going in the D-tier for sure.
Release Date | June 22, 1977 |
Director | Art Stevens, John Lounsbery, Wolfgang Reitherman, Hendel Butoy, Mike Gabriel |
The Black Cauldron
The Black Cauldron has amassed a bit of a cult following and a lot of people say it doesn’t deserve to be the black sheep of Disney. The story itself was a good one but the execution was pretty bad. And because of this reason, it’s going in the D-tier.
Release Date | July 26, 1985 |
Director | Ted Berman, Richard Rich |
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Atlantis is a movie with a big cult following but it’s not that great. It feels like this is a live-action film trying to be animated and that to us is an issue. We feel like the makers were trying to inject too much slapstick goofy cartoon comedy into this when the story didn’t lend itself to that. It would have done better with more sarcastic humor which would have lent itself more to a live-action thing. Thus, because of all these reasons, it is going in the D-tier.
Release Date | June 15, 2001 |
Director | Kirk Wise, Gary Trousdale |
Boo
Speaking of Boo, it is also a below-average Disney movie with loads of improvements required. The music is not good and storytelling-wise, it is really bad. It’s going in the D-tier.
Release Date | July 3, 2020 |
Director | Anthony C. Ferrante |
Fantasia (2000)
Fantasia 2000 is interesting. This is an incredible movie and you will love some of the scenes for sure. But overall, it’s not the Best or even the average compared to others movies on this list, so it will go in the D-tier.
Release Date | January 1, 2000 |
Director | James Algar, Eric Goldberg, Hendel Butoy, Gaëtan Brizzi, Don Hahn, Paul Brizzi, Francis Glebas, Pixote Hunt |
Chicken Little
Chicken Little is by far the worst film that Disney Feature Animation has ever made.
Release Date | November 4, 2005 |
Director | Mark Dindal |
The Sword in the Stone
The Sword in the Stone is not a good movie at all. It’s below average and not really up to the mark. It’s going in the D-tier for sure. Although you will love parts of it such as the Wizard Duel which is incredible. But the rest of it is boring. And the ending is very bad too.
Release Date | December 25, 1963 |
Director | Wolfgang Reitherman |

About Disney Movies
We are sure that most of the movies mentioned in our tier list for the best Disney movies in August 2022 are not only seen and loved by children but also adults alike.
The reason why Disney movies are so popular is that they have serious themes and always end up with an important message. These movies can affect and inspire you in unimaginable ways and always have a message that makes us think in the end.
Disney movies might seem like they’re created for children only but that is not the case. The movies have always reached out to a versatile audience and the stories are always the most interesting with a great plot. We have not just created the tier list for best Disney movies in August 2022 for the sake of nostalgia, but we have also tried to emphasize the importance of the messages each movie holds.
How We Made Our Disney Movie Tier List
It should be noted that to ease the process of ranking, we have introduced 5 different tiers. We have been using this format for many different topics for instance you can go through our article on Godzilla Movie Tier List.
Moving on, firstly, we have the S tier. In the S tier, all those movies are included that are the best of the best, the super-duper, the brilliant ones. It includes movies that are a must-watch for everyone.
After the S tier, we have the A tier. The A tier includes movies that too are epic, but not as good as the ones in the S tier. Next comes the B tier which includes movies that are way better than those mentioned in the C and D tiers, but not better than the S and A tiers. The C tier includes average movies. The movies in this list are neither too good, nor too bad. They are just average, middle-of-the-way kind movies.
Lastly, we have the D tier which includes the worst movies ever made. It includes those movies that you should never watch because they will disappoint you a lot. Thus, it is better not to waste your time watching them.
Now that you know everything about the Disney movie tier list ranking criteria, it is time that we take a deep dive and find out where your favorite Disney movie lies based on our ranking criteria.
Verdict
Disney has come up with several great movies over the years. Some of these films are among the most popular and well-liked in history, generating books, toys, albums, theme park attractions, etc.
While others were completely forgotten within months of their initial release. They may not all be significant, but they collectively form the most important body of animation in America, if not the world. There is never a bad moment to see some of the greatest Disney films ever made.
In the discussion above, we mentioned and ranked many Disney movies from best to worst. This Disney movie tier list will give you an idea about the different films Disney has released over time. We couldn’t make a Disney Pixar movie tier list as it is quite different from this one, but stay tuned for that, as it is surely on our radar.
