Announcement Trailer for Crossplay In NBA 2k24 Leaked

It was confirmed by the president of visual concepts but now there is an official announcement coming soon.

2K had announced that Kobe Bryant will be on the cover of this year’s game, and with that, they announced many key features. They wanted the 25th year of NBA 2k to be special and wanted to celebrate the legacy of Kobe Bryant.

Key Points

  • The president of Visual Concepts, the game’s developer, mentioned that community-requested features like crossplay would be introduced in NBA 2K24. Now an announcement trailer for this feature has been leaked on YouTube.
  • Now a leaked trailer screenshot reveals that crossplay will only be available in the Next Gen version of the game, specifically on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, excluding PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
  • The absence of cross-platform multiplayer for last-gen consoles and PC may disappoint players, and it also means that the ProPlay feature, which translates real NBA footage into gameplay, will be missing on those platforms as well.

According to the president of visual concepts, the game was introducing community-requested features like crossplay, and now finally, we will have an announcement trailer for the crossplay feature in the game. Here is what he said; the credits of the interview go to ESPN:

As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball,” Greg Thomas, president at Visual Concepts, the game’s developer, said in a statement. “While we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay.

A screenshot from the leaked trailer shows that the cross-play is available to the Nex Gen version of the game. The Next Gen version of the game includes only the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5. It surprisingly doesn’t include a PC, and of course, no one expected the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One to be included here.

Crossplay is only for New Gen

The absence of cross-platform multiplayer support for last-gen consoles may be disappointing for those still using PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Additionally, PC users, specifically those on Steam, might be left with the last-gen version for an additional year without the ability to engage in cross-platform gameplay.

This means ProPlay, another big feature that will directly translate the NBA footage into gameplay and deliver animations and movements never seen before, will also be missing on these platforms.

Unlike EA, who have released next-gen versions of their games like FIFA, 2k has failed to do so. Even their release of the WWE 2k23 was not a full next-gen experience on PC. You can call it a hybrid-gen; that is what some gamers are calling it. Visually the game is on par with the PS5 and Xbox One versions of the game, but you need a GPU that can pull it off.
