One thing movies and games have in common is a cross-over, which seems to be the new trend, and has even become a whole new genre. We can’t blame it; cross-overs add variety to a game and unite different fandoms. That is exactly what Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will do with their new game MultiVersus.
MultiVersus is an upcoming game whose beta test servers will be out in July 2022, so we can assume that the game is still in its earliest stages. One thing leakers love to do with a game like that is data mining potential stuff from the game. This time, MultiVersus fell victim to that, so let’s take a look at them.
It is important to note that some of these characters have been leaked before; their repetition here adds further confirmation to the previous ones. Reddit User hugeleakeractually, was also the one responsible for leaking the game seven months ago, and it’s only been a week now since we got an official cinematic trailer. Thus one can assume looking at his past record that the data mining he has done has a lot of weight.
He made sure to make a new account so nobody could trace him, as this was a big thing, and it just got confirmed two weeks ago. Not only that, but you can also see some of his mentioned characters appear in the trailer. Does that mean they only added a few and scrapped others?
No, the characters are developed but will likely appear in a future trailer. Furthermore, hugeleakeractually also gave a brief description of the game, which we got a hint of in the trailer.
The game is based on Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but the game had been in development way before All-Star was announced. The initial inspiration for the game was the Shaggy Ultra Instinct in Mortal Combat meme (we can finally use 1% of Shaggy’s true power). The evidence for that is how Shaggy uses a “Super Saiyan” kind of transformation to fight others.
Since Shaggy could not be added in MK, Warner Bros loved the idea and put him here, Just like in Space Jam 2. Apparently, the game is in Tag Team; there is no confirmation on whether we can switch between two characters or they come as a set because we can see them in pairs in the trailer, so it makes sense that they adopt the latter one.
Coming back to the leaked characters, we already have some confirmed by the trailer, while others have been confirmed from the leaker, and since he did it seven months before the trailer, we can assume the same for these.
They include Gandalf, Fred Flintstone, Mad Max, Johnny Bravo, Joker, Raven, Gizmo, Marvin the Martian, Lebron, Rick, Morty, Scooby-Doo, Daenerys, The Hound, Wicked Witch, and Godzilla. Some Harry Potter characters were in development, but they may have been scrapped due to the issues in rights. Most of these characters can be confirmed as we already saw their partners in the trailer. So Warner Bros will add them eventually.
The new data-mined characters include
Samurai Jack – The main protagonist from Samurai Jack, and one of our beloved childhood characters.
The Powerpuff Girls – The Powerpuff Girls (all one Fighter), Maybe their different attacks will change the character of the three of them.
The Animaniacs – The Animaniacs (also all one fighter), same concept as Powerpuff Girls.
Duck Dodgers/Daffy – The most relatable/lovable character from Looney Tunes.
Scorpion – The scorching warrior from Mortal Kombat.
Ben 10 – The human with alien powers, the main character from Ben 10.
Ted Lasso – Ted Lasso is an American football coach, who is hired to manage a British soccer team (I don’t know why he is here, but it’s interesting).
These characters will be very fun to play against, we can see who is stronger, Ben 10 or Scorpion, as long as there is no fatality in this game, our childhood will not be ruined.
