An Insider Reveals That MWII Will Have Paid Classic Maps

Call of Duty is a video game series that has led the first-person shooter genre since the early 2000s. If you are a veteran gamer, then it is almost impossible you haven’t tried at least one of their games, and with each being a master in its own class, we are bound to have many favourites.

One of them is undoubtedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. If we talk about Modern Warfare, released in 2019, it was a direct reboot of the Modern Warfare sub-series. As it saw massive success among the CoD fans, there is bound to be a sequel to that title. So, in February of 2022, Activision confirmed the development of Modern Warfare II, and we even got some trailers a few months ago.

About Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

If you are one of the handfuls of people who don’t know this existed, Modern Warfare II is an upcoming title in the Modern Warfare sub-series. As mentioned earlier, it is a sequel to the 2019 reboot and the 19th instalment in the main Call of Duty series. The game is scheduled for release on October 28, 2022. It will be released for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and Windows.

Major Points

  • Call of Duty has a paid “greatest hits map pack” in development.
  • MWII will also have maps from the 2009 game, including the classic maps from Infinity War, Treyarch & Sledgehammer’s games.
  • These maps are meant to be released as Year 2 Content.

MWII Classic Maps

A month ago, Twitter User TheGhostOfHope posted a tweet regarding the classic maps coming in MWII as year 2 content. For those unaware, Hope is a well-known Call of Duty leaker who has given the community much valuable information regarding the upcoming games.

According to him, Infinity Ward will simultaneously release most or all of the maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009). They will be implemented post-Launch of Modern Warfare II and are likely year 2 content.

20-Year Celebration

However, the more exciting news we want to discuss was found by our team at TopTierList, as the same leaker posted a tweet today. On top of the details mentioned above, it seems like we will be getting a paid ‘greatest hits map pack’ to celebrate the 20 years of Call of Duty. According to Hope, it is still in development and would include the classic maps.

Since this is for a 20-year celebration, it will take some time for us to get official confirmation on this. Regardless, all unconfirmed things must be taken with a grain of salt since anything is subjected to change before its release. But we can definitely expect some big things for the 20-year celebration.

It will be nostalgic to replay those old moments in our favourite maps with even better graphics. However, as great of a story, as Modern Warfare has, there are many other exciting things we can look forward to.

It is safe to say that if not this, they will make something equally, or almost the same as a classic maps pack, and we cannot express how exciting this is. Call of Duty has a special place in many hearts, and as hyped up as we were after watching the trailer, this news makes up look forward to the next year even more.

In the End

Modern Warfare II will have some excellent content for the 20-year celebration, and if what Hope says is true, it will be something to look forward to. Keep your expectations in check, so you don’t get disappointed, and let us know what you would love to see coming up as year 2 content. Share your thoughts below, and we will get back to you!
