Netflix is a site we are all familiar with. Gamers do hold it especially dear to their hearts because of how many game-adaptation series they have released over the years. Namely Arcane and Tekken along with the very recent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
An even more important thing to see is that it rarely ever ceases to amaze us. With each show, the target community was majorly happy with how the show turned out. For Arcane it went a little higher causing it to win the best animation Emmy earlier this year.
With all that’s going around in the gaming world, Netflix has decided to broaden its horizons from making gaming shows to making “World-class” games. This is very exciting news but we have yet to see what the community itself has to say about this grand announcement.

We at toptierlist found a tweet made by the user, Nibellion in which he has linked the Netflix post. The VP of Game Studios for Netflix, Amir Rahimi, stated what this program is. From the looks of it, it looks like Netflix did not hold back any punches whatsoever.

In the announcement, we can extract several crucial bits and pieces of information. First and most importantly, the studio will be based in Helsinki, Finland. Personally, I think this is a great location for a studio. It is a very rich country with a huge number of talented individuals. Additionally, it is in Europe which is always a great location for a studio.
Secondly, the games are claimed to have no advertisements or any in-game purchases. The no ads part is amazing but the no in-game purchases mean there will likely be no free-to-play games coming from this studio at all.
Why Helsinki?
I already gave my opinion that Helsinki is one of the best places for a gaming studio but the VP issued a statement on this topic as well. In the same post, he goes on to add that Helsinki is home to some of the best minds in the game development industry.
Additionally, several studios that Netlifx owns are already situated in the area so it was the perfect place to build the studio at. The studios mentioned in the post are Next Games, Night School Studio, and Boss Fight Entertainment will all work together and publish games under Netflix.
All of these studios are great at separate things which makes this a very versatile team that is sure to present very unique and original ideas in the gaming world. The VP does go on to say that these are still very early days for this project and it may take a couple of years for it to become fully functional.
Speaking on behalf of the gamers I know, this seems like a very interesting move. However, based on the quality of shows Netflix has been releasing, I am sure this new studio will not be disappointing us gamers at all.
