News Regarding Red Dead in the Summer Fest

Red Dead Redemption is an action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. Next in line to 2004’s Red Dead Redemption Revolver, it is the second game in the Red Dead series. Red Dead Redemption was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May 2010. It received critical acclaim for its visuals, music, performances, gameplay, and narrative.

There were speculations about the game being remade for the past many months and finally we have some news about the game which should excite quite a bit of people.

According to the rumors circulating online, Red Dead Redemption remaster for current-generation consoles and the next version of Red Dead Redemption 2 have been in the works. Speaking on Twitter, French journalist Chris Klippel said:

To answer several MPs in one go, yes, as I was able to confirm at the end of 2020, a next-gen port of RDR2 has been underway for several months at Rockstar. With a remaster/remake project of the first RDR. The port of RDR2 had to basically be announced much earlier. The announcement would have been visibly postponed for the remaster/remake of RDR. I do not know more, except that the project would still be relevant and that obviously it does not bear the name “Outlaws Collection”.

Chris Klippel also talked about a potential PC release of the Red Dead Redemption remaster, saying:

I had echoes, like that it would be available on PC and that there would be a recovery plan for Red Dead Online. But this information is not reliable enough so I avoid relying too much on it.

Chris Klippel is a renowned insider, particularly when it comes to news regarding Rockstar Games. An example of it was him leaking the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. So we can say that his news does have a lot of substance and the fans might be in for a big surprise.

Furthermore, Ben who is a Rockstar Games enthusiast and covers news on Rockstar Games tweeted saying if Rockstar Games shows up at the summer game fest and make an announcement on the Red Dead Redemption remake and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the next-gen port it will be the best show ever. The tweet was deleted 4 minutes after it was created, but we managed to capture the screenshot of the tweet. This further adds a little substance to what Chris Klippel stated earlier.

Rockstar Games might have reached out to Ben to delete the tweet, or Ben expressed his love for the Red Dead series. Still, we cannot ignore the rumors that have been circulating over the last couple of months and others have claimed about these projects in the past, and it won’t be a surprise if Rockstar Games finally announce their project at the summer game fest.

Red Dead won several year-end accolades, including a game of the year awards from several gaming publications. Critics consider it one of the best video games ever made. It had shipped around 23 million copies by 2021, making it one of the best-selling video games. In 2018 Rockstar Games made its third installment in the Red Dead series and a prequel to the 2010 Red Dead Redemption, whose development lasted over eight years and began soon after the Red Dead Redemption was released.

The game is played from a third-person perspective. A player can roam in an open world, a fictionalized version of the western United States and northern Mexico. Gunfights emphasize a gunslinger gameplay mechanic called “Dead Eye” that allows players to mark multiple shooting targets on enemies in slow motion. The game uses a morality system, by which the player’s actions affect their character’s levels of honor and fame and how other characters respond to the player.

We surely hope that the remakes are as good as the original games without taking away the main essence that made these games so memorable.
