PS+ Doesn’t Allow Membership Downgrading On Black Friday

Recently, PlayStation revealed the massive discounts that will be implemented during Black Friday sales. Their blog post showed some exciting things, and many PlayStation users loved seeing them. However, things continue to go south for PlayStation Plus after their most recent blunder.

It may not be fair to call it a blunder since this is most likely intentional. If you don’t know what we are talking about, it’s how the Black Friday discounts don’t allow you to downgrade your subscription.

After PlayStation revealed the 25% discount on PS Plus Extra, fans thought it would be possible to downgrade their subscription to the middle tier, allowing them to avail of the offer by extending their subscription with the discount. However, our team at TopTierList found out that it’s impossible to do that.

Major Points

  • Amidst the massive discount on PlayStation Plus, fans have found yet another disappointing feature.
  • The service already has a bad reputation, leaving a bad taste in its dedicated fanbase.
  • Combined with the lack of content released on PlayStation Plus this month, it looks like an even worse deal.

The Black Friday Deals have gone live from 18th November and will end on 28th November. They only provide a 10-day window, which is reasonable. However, if you are facing issues such as this, trying to get through their support and knowing what to do might take a lot longer.

After investigations, we have found that it is nigh impossible to downgrade in this situation. And yes, this also applies when you want to go from PS Plus Extra to PS Plus Essential. You can only take advantage of this deal if your subscription ends before the deal vanishes.

Another way you can avail some discounts is by purchasing through prepaid cards. For example, Amazon allows you to buy Essential for just Є40, which is already 33% cheaper. The Extra tier can be purchased for Є67 and Premium for Є76.

Sony is already walking on a tightrope with the lack of content and false promises on PlayStation Plus. So far, we have only seen Ratchet & Clank PS3 games this month, which can only be cloud-streamed. Although they are popular, it doesn’t negate the fact that they set up high expectations for this platform, even promising retro games, and we know where that went.

But the current situation just adds fuel to the fire. They believed that the Black Friday sales would finally give them some positive feedback, but their greed for this platform continues to outshine their positive intentions.

Many fans have seen nothing but disappointment, and their concerns for the future of this platform are valid. Though we don’t know what they have in the future for us, we can only hope it does not go worse from here.

That is all for today; what do you think of PlayStation Plus’ Black Friday Deals? Do you think they could have improved this situation beforehand? Or will they do something before the deal ends? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
