Before we got so many games to look forward to, Splatoon 3 was undoubtedly one of the most-awaited games. Quickly after its release, the game saw massive success and sold record-breaking units.
Although many thought the hype would water down, Splatoon 3 continued showing its consistent sales and still lives up to those expectations, as seen in Famitsu’s Weekly Sales report.
Major Points
- Splatoon 3 remains on top of the charts for 10 consecutive weeks.
- It finally sees some competition as Tactics Ogre Reborn, God of War Ragnarök, and Sonic Frontiers enter the top 10 list.
- Due to the massive gap in sales, it should still hold that position for a while unless we see a surge of players in others.
Splatoon 3’s success is undoubtedly a well-deserved achievement, as the game provides unique gameplay befitting the latest game in one of the most popular franchises. Now that some other major titles have been released, they have also made their way to the top 10 list and on multiple platforms.
According to Famitsu’s report, Splatoon 3 sold staggering 43,781 units in a week, making it a total of 3,331,197 units as of 17th November 2022. The game will continue to surge in those numbers as it constantly brings out more content, with new weapons and stages recently released. The new “Winter Chill Season 2022” is coming out on 1st December.
On the 2nd, 5th, and 10th, Tactics Ogre Reborn remains comfortable with its Nintendo Switch Version, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 versions. As we know how overwhelming God of War Ragnarök’s sales have been on PlayStation 5, it ranked 3rd and 6th on PlayStation 4. Not to mention, Sonic Frontiers ranked 4th, 7th, and 8th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 versions, respectively.
Although these results are expected, we will see some changes in the next week’s report as other games get more time on the platform and accumulate higher sales. As for now, Splatoon 3 remains the undefeated champion, and no one can deny that.
