FromSoftware is an undisputable king in developing top-class games. Even some of their older games can compete with or even outclass some of the current games by other studios. As such, anything from them will surely be a treat for all gamers. According to an insider, they have a game in development that is not based on an established IP.
Aside from the Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which they announced recently, there is a new IP. However, this isn’t the first time the new IP was mentioned. Almost a year ago, Nick from The XboxEra Podcast discussed a PS5 exclusive title by FromSoftware, and how it’s an entirely new IP.
The mention was made again by another renowned insider Rythian, who tweeted that they have another game in development (aside from Armored Core VI). The details of the two are almost identical, and since the game’s development is still going smoothly, we know what to expect after Armored Core VI.

FromSoftware has seen vast success with its amazing games, notably the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring. Their most recent game was awarded the Game of the Year in 2022, so any of their upcoming game is sure to get the same hype from the start.
Aside from the Armored Core VI that was revealed recently, we can now expect them to announce another game in the coming time. According to the leaks, this game will be a new IP and a PS Exclusive.
Nick first mentioned the game on The XboxEra Podcast, stating, “Deal-wise, it’s pretty much identical to Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls as in Sony owns the IP, but it’s made together with obviously FromSoftware and Sony XDev Japan, which is former Sony Japan Studio.”
He continued, “Hidetaka Miyazaki is on it. It’s not Bloodborne, and it’s not Demon’s Souls, it’s an entirely new IP and apparently has no connection to the former two games.” He also confirmed that aside from being a PS Exclusive, it is more souls-like than Elden Ring or Sekiro, two of the games that have won Game of the Year in their respective years.
At that time, he said the Armored Core VI game was put on hold to finish Elden Ring, but that was outdated even for that time, so things may have changed. Considering how the new IP has not been mentioned after that, and we recently got a reveal for Armored Core VI, this new game might be closer than we think.
Rythian made the most recent mention, and since he is updated with the industry, development is likely going smoothly. Though it is unlikely we will get two FromSoftware games this year, the new IP might get a reveal later this year and get a scheduled release date in 2024.
Considering Sony recently pulled the plug on the Forza Horizon competitor, it is good to hear the rumored new IP is still doing well. Since the game has not been revealed, there would not even be a formal announcement in case it got canceled, so we owe it to Rythian to update us on its development.
