Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a popular crossover fighting game by Capcom in collaboration with Eighting. The game has many characters from Capcom’s video game franchises and even notable characters from Marvel’s comic books. But that isn’t the main reason for its popularity.
The game has become a hotbed for the modding community, as people have made many new characters and added them to the game. However, the issue of having no way to add these characters to the character slots has always persisted. But there is a glimmer of hope as Twitch streamer Maximilian_DOOD has put a reward for anyone who can add that feature.
In a recent stream, Maximilian_DOOD stated, “I would like to put $5k as a bounty to the team or person that is able to hopefully get that shit at least started… So we can hopefully expand Ultimate Marvel 3 to actually have character slots.”
Major Points
- A popular Twitch Streamer has put a $5k bounty to catalyse the hopeful addition of character slots in UMVC3.
- The game currently has many modded characters but no way to have character slots for these characters.
- This would allow for different costumes to be accessible and the opportunity to add many more custom characters.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 already offers a good range of characters, but the room for custom-modded characters has expanded the possibilities within the game. It is one of the reasons why the game is still relevant, even though it was released over a decade ago.
Since the fanbase enjoys these, we have seen characters like Spider-Gwen, Carnage, Sakura, and even Captain Marvel modded in the game. But there is a huge flaw; you can only select the modded characters by replacing them with other characters’ alternate costumes.
This has limited how far the modding can be done for upcoming potential characters. Therefore, if we have character slots for these modded characters, things should get much easier. Maximilian_DOOD’s effort to implement that feature is great news, as no one thought character slots would be added.
Admittedly, this doesn’t guarantee the addition of character slots, but it does catalyse the process we have longed for. With so much money on the line, individuals and groups of modders will now get involved in making this feature possible. Not to mention, if someone manages to do that, they might also get more recognition within the gaming and Twitch community.
If this is added, we can:
- Enjoy selecting characters without replacing other characters’ costumes with them
- The gaming experience will be much cleaner and easy to understand for newcomers.
- Addition of costumes and alternate colours to the modded characters.
- Ultimately allow for many more custom characters to be modded within the game.
Modding or adding custom things to a game is difficult, and the fact that we haven’t had the character slots just shows how difficult yet valuable it can be. It’s a task that would be impossible for many, but the UMVC3 community might just do it. We have seen how creative it is with the characters.
Even though there are no custom animations for the modded characters, they cleverly use existing ones. Many thought this wouldn’t allow for characters like Venom to be added due to their uniqueness, but that didn’t stop the modders from doing what they wanted.
Regardless, the task is now even more difficult, but the reward is also higher. Do you think Maximilian_DOOD’s bounty will finally motivate people to make the character slots? If yes, what other features or characters would you love to see within the game? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
