PS VR2 Leaked Manual Confirms a 2023 Release Date

PlayStation VR2 is one of the upcoming devices the community is eagerly waiting for. It is expected to be the best thing we have ever had yet, and considering the rate at which the gaming industry is growing, such releases are always the best.

Most of the hype around PlayStation VR2 is obviously due to the many games coming up and the glimmer of hope that we will get to play them in this as well. Among the games confirmed to be on PS VR2, we have Resident Evil Village, Horizon Call of the Mountain, No Man’s Sky, and much more.

Sure, there aren’t many games confirmed at the moment, but since the VR hasn’t even been released yet, many more will be announced along the way. As for the release date, no information is given. However, our keep eyes at TopTierList found some interesting leaks that point towards a potential release.

About PlayStation VR 2

The PlayStation VR2 is an upcoming VR headset for PlayStation 5 and is developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. According to some rumours and inside information, it was said that the VR will be released in early 2023.

PS VR2 will connect to PS5 via a single USB-C cable. PS VR had a single camera that tracked the player’s movement, but PS VR2 will have four cameras mounted on the headset, giving a much better experience.

It will have an OLED panel with a 4K display resolution. In addition, we will have a 2000x2040p density in each eye. There are some other enhancements as well, like how it will only render the items in your near vision and will not sharply render the things in the periphery. It will also have Sense controllers, which can detect finger touches and haptic feedback.

Major Points

  • The leaked manual confirms some of the specs we already knew and has a 2023 copyright, further confirming the date.
  • Since the manual has all the data in accordance, likely, the retail units are currently in development, giving more credibility to an early 2023 release date.

PlayStation VR2 Manual Leaked

The manual for PS VR2 has been leaked online, and although the origin of where it came from is unknown, the data shown looks promising, and it is doubtful that it is fabricated. Our team at TopTierList stumbled upon the leak through a Twitter user, PSFEED, and its readable text gives further information on the already-known specs.

Since the manual has been leaked, Sony may contain this by simply putting out a showcase or posting a similar announcement. Regardless, we are on the cusp of experiencing the PS VR2 in our own hands, so it is undoubtedly time to be excited.

Some of the text confirms that it will be released in 2023. However, what’s more, important is that due to the fact this is an authentic manual, Sony probably has the retail units currently being made. This means that we can expect it to come in early-mid 2023.

How Many More Games Can we Expect?

If we look at the PS VR, it was released in October 2016. A few months before the release, Sony announced that there would be 230 developers actively working on the content for the PS VR and further stated that there would be 50 titles coming by the end of that year.

Sony can also make that announcement for PS VR2 soon, especially now that the manual has emerged online. As of writing this, 13 games have been announced for PS VR 2, so many more will surely come.

PS VR also had the Cinematic Mode that allows non-VR games to be played by rendering their content on a stimulated projection screen in the 3D space. Its model has three screen sizes, going up to 226 inches. Perhaps something similar or even better will also be available in PS VR2. But it’s best to mediate our expectations and wait for an official announcement.

Ending Remarks

Although the manual doesn’t offer too much information as of now, some people might decode the unreadable text and find something valuable. Still, we now have a time frame for when we can expect the PS VR2 to be released.

When do you think that will be? And which game are you most excited to play on PS VR2? Is there another game you would love to see coming on the VR? Share your thoughts with us below, and we will get back to you!
