Saints Row 2022’s Sales Exceed Embracer Group’s Expectations

Saints Row 2022 is an action-adventure game developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver. Since its release, it has been top of the charts and is doing exceptionally well. Although the reboot is met with quite some negative critics, it is still not doing as bad as one expected.

The latest Saints Row is a reboot and the fifth game in the series. If you are one of the people who think that this game didn’t pack a punch, then it might be time for us to show you the proof. We have some words from ABG Sundal Collier, a Nordic investment bank. They have the financial data on the money put in the game and are here to show you what the expected results are. So far, they look good!

Word From ABG Sundal Collier

Twitter user Stephans_aktien posted the tweet containing ABG Sundal Collier’s statement. Stephans himself is an investor in Embracer Group and owns some shares. If you did not know, Embracer Group is a Swedish video game company that owns THQ Nordic and Volition.

It is one of the giants in the gaming industry, and its word is more than enough to tell us about the state of its games. Embracer Group owns many IPs, and Saints Row is one of them. According to the statements by ABG SC:

We must decouple the reception from players and the finances. More than a week after release, it is still top 1-3 in the grossing rankings on Xbox and PlayStation, which is above expectations, given the reviews. We estimate that it needs around two million copies sold during this fiscal year to break even. Considering that it is well-marketed, has relatively low competition on the market right now, and that the IP is strong, we think the prospects for at least two million copies are good. We expect that it will sell well above what Tiny Tina did in its first three months (USD 125m), plus at least SEK 100m on PC (Epic).

Their analysis is well put, and while we don’t have the most accurate data on the sales, the number will be revealed at the end of the fiscal year. The fiscal year will end on March 31st, and further data will be given then.

Embracer Group is Confident in these Sales

For now, Embracer Group and ABG SC are very confident in the IP, primarily due to the factors mentioned. The game indeed has low competition, but we should consider the upcoming games and how they might impact Saints Row‘s sales somehow.

Regardless, they expect them to be 2m at the very least, and it shows that the game is doing well, even more than they expected. What do you think the future of Saints Row will hold? Will it be just as relevant in the coming years? Let us know your thoughts below, and we will discuss them with you!
