It’s always a great feeling when there’s some insight into an upcoming game. But what’s the most insightful thing about a game? Of course, new gameplay footage. Lucky for all Saints Row enthusiasts, we got a new 39-minutes long gameplay.
The game will be released on 23rd August 2022 for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows, and Google Stadia. So, there are only a few days left for the game, and just in case it disappoints some people, it’s best to watch the gameplay and prepare for that conclusion.
Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

It is almost 40-minutes long with no commentary and provides excellent insight into the game. The gameplay shows a lot of heavy combat between rival gangs, but it also offers a good story.
Will it Keep Up with Expectations?
The game has tried to implement many notable things from successful games. But the combination of that makes it a somewhat downgraded version of them all. As of writing this, the gameplay already has over 34k views, and people are quick to share their opinions.
For example, at 16:44, while you are defeating one of the enemies, others are just waiting for you to finish him off before jumping at you(and they don’t even jump, they cower and wait for you to fire them).
Another turn-off is the health bar over the enemies, which looks really plain, but if there is an option to turn it off, it might be good. Other than that, there are various glitchy graphics throughout the video, and hopefully, they can be solved with better graphic settings.
One of the only good things people found worthwhile was how they conveyed the story, like foreshadowing the ending. The relation with the first game is made that way, and there might also be ways to change the end, as the YouTuber mentioned in a reply.
So far, one of the only reasons someone might play it over some other big titles is due to the love for the franchise and the story. There is nothing new in terms of mechanics; in fact, something minor yet essential is missing. We don’t see any “cover system” that can help you fight more tactically. It’s basically run-and-gun.
The Pre-Orders are Looking Great!
Surprisingly, the game is doing well so far. We looked at some pre-order data, which exceeded even the developers’ expectations.
The pre-orders have accumulated 118% of the expected target. The number might grow even more in the upcoming days. In a few days, we can see how it does officially. Maybe we are being too critical of the game, and it is doing its job of attracting the target demographic.
It is a good game, but once it is out, we can also see how well it compares to other similar games. Aside from the things we talked about, the game has some great soundtracks and nostalgic hits to keep you groovy while you play.
About the Game
If you are unfamiliar with the game, it is developed by Volition and is a reboot of the original Saints Row series. The game is set in Santa Ileso, a fictional city, as shown in the gameplay. It is under the control of three gangs, the Idols, Los Panteros, and Marshall Defense Industries.
You can customize your character and enjoy those aspects. More on the game will be revealed with the release. In the meantime, what are your thoughts regarding the gameplay? Does it excite you so much as to buy the game when it’s out? Let us know below!
