Delay Forecasted in IO Interactive’s Project 007 & Dragon

We all have our guilty pleasure games. Some enjoy spy/assassin games more than anything, while others like it to be an RPG. Luckily, we have both of those in the works by none other than IO Interactive. The studio brought us the masterpiece Hitman series.

There have been rumors and some official information that IO Interactive is working on two projects: Project 007 and Project Dragon. The former title is, of course, a James Bond game, while the latter is an RPG game.

Information has been scarce regarding these games, and if you came in with the hopes of this news being good, well, you can be the judge of that. The latest annual financial report from IO Interactive revealed that perhaps we still need to wait until March 2025 for the releases.

First, Let’s Look at the Report

The report is critical to understand their situation and why we say the games will be released late. So, let’s thoroughly analyze IO Interactive’s annual financial report for 2021.

Financial Review of IO Interactive.

The FY21 ended in March 2022. The data is self-explanatory, but the more interesting thing here is how much HITMAN 3 has carried IO Interactive’s revenue since its release. Now that the game was launched on Microsoft game pass, it further adds to their revenue, ringing good news.

The sales so far have exceeded their expectations, and they are delighted with these results, especially if we consider what they have coming up.

Some good news is the working talent will get an increased salary due to inflation. It’s always good to hear that artists and developers are not overworked due to deadlines, thanks to recent awareness on the matter.

Furthermore, they will also invest in diversifying their products. More information should be coming soon since this has been made public.

Outlook of IO Interactive Finances.

Here’s the bread and butter; they stated that;

We had a couple of years with Solid revenue and profits due to the launch of a title. There is a risk the next couple of calendar years, the EBITDA and the profits will drop. This is due to long production phases ahead before the next releases hit the market. More precisely, fiscal 24 and 25 estimates show a significant decrease.

This means we won’t see more notable titles coming from them before FY24 & FY25. The only two titles we know of are Project 007 and Project Dragon. The good news is that they will be giving their all towards developing these titles, so we can hope for it to be as good as we expect.

On the other hand, this doesn’t mean we will officially receive information in 2025, as they did not say anything about that. Since we barely know anything about the games, all we can do is sit tight and hope for the best.

If you don’t know about these titles, don’t worry, we got you.

About Project 007

It is a working title of a new James Bond game. It will be the first in a long time and will be developed by IO Interactive. As we have seen their work in Hitman, we expect this to be another banger. Anything else about the game on the internet is pure speculation, so wait for further announcements.

The lack of information caused some fans to think it had been canceled, but IO Interactive came out and confirmed that it is indeed in the development stage.

About Project Dragon

If you thought Project 007 had no information, think again because Project Dragon is shrouded in even more mystery. We know so far from Gaming Journalists, who stated that the game would likely have updates for ten years after release. It will be a triple-AAA RPG game utterly different from what we have seen in IO Interactive’s other games. Some rumours say that ‘Project Dragon’ is a code-name given to it as there will be dragons ruling a medieval world.

In Conclusion

IO Interactive is doing well, and the recent profits will assist them vastly in developing future titles. Do remember that a significant drop in their revenue in coming years doesn’t mean it’s terrible. It is perfectly normal as there will be no titles. It may not be the case if Hitman 3 somehow generates even more revenue, but that’s unlikely.

What will these games be like as we wait for further information? And will it be worth it to wait that long for some titles? Let us know below, and we will discuss it with you!
